DevConf'19

DevConf'19

- 2 mins

Hey,

I am writing this blog post to share my experience of attending the DevConf India which is the annual Developer’s Conference organized by Red Hat, India. I attended DevConf India as the Representative from GitHub Education to hold GitHub Education’s Booth during the conference. The DevConf had an amazing vibe as it provided a platform to the FOSS community participants and enthusiasts to come together and engage in knowledge sharing activities through technical talks, workshops, panel discussions and hackathons etc. DevConf’19 was organized from 02 August 2019 to 03 August 2019 at Christ University(Bengaluru, India).

What differentiate DevConf from other conferences is that — no main topic, no single language and the diverse speakerbase make the conference unique. And yeah a perfect organization too. I’m already pumped up to attend DevConf 2020. The venue was outstanding- Christ University, one of the best university in Bengaluru. There were about 1k people for the conference apart from the University’s own Students, faculty and Staff and the venue haven’t ever been slightly overcrowded. No queues, no pushing. There wasn’t any problem with going even to the most occupied talks.

The Organising team and volunteers were very carefull about everything they keep calling and asking me about the location and approximate time to reach the venue as I was a bit late on the first day as I was not aware of the Bengaluru’s traffic. :man_shrugging:

There were so many people visiting our booth from students to professionals everyone, some were curious to know more about the programs offered by GitHub Education for students and Teachers, some people had problems setting up their git/GitHub, some people were just getting error while hosting their hugo site on GitHub and some peofessionals who just want to contact of GitHub staff for professional purpose. We helped everyone on booth both the days during the conference. And yeah not forgetting the GitHub Swag!. :metal:

It would have not been possible to handle such a huge crowd without the help of other GitHub Campus Experts who were there to attend the conference. Thanks to Sakethramanujam(Speacial thanks for beautifully setting up the booth), Jogendra and Akashdeep. (from Right to left in picture)

The keynotes were astounding. I’d also like to mention three talks :speaking_head: (in random order):

I try to attend conferences and hackathons as many as possible. There were better and worse ones but DevConf surely is on the “better” side. Great, even. It is one of the few that I don’t want to miss and will surely go there next year. So, Thank You Sumantro for giving me the great opportunity to hold the booth in DevConf’19.

Thanks.
